Nutrition is very important to the physical and emotional health of your dog.  What we choose to put in their bodies will prolong their lives or shorten them, promote good health or disease.  Genetically dogs and cats could live well into their 20s but we lose most of them in their teens.  The standards for pet nutrition are not high enough in the pet food industry.

Here are my criteria for an excellent dog food:

Human grade ingredients- it means no rendering room floor scraps of bone and beak that are called “meat.”

The food is made in a USDA certified facility – most pet foods are not.

All ingredients are made in the United States.

No additives – no chemicals or preservatives that could trigger allergies, immune responses or other illness in my animals.

Pro-biotics and chelated minerals

Made in small batches and fast cooked at low heat to preserve nutritional value and freshness.

Never had a food recalled.
